Gas solenoid valve manual reset

Once tripped, the valves require electrical power restoration and manual operation to reset. They are ideal for controlling critical processes in refining applications. A manual reset gas solenoid valve automatically shuts down valve closing through lack of voltage and remains closed until an operator resets the solenoid valve. This is usually performed with a push-button or a latch to trigger the reopening the solenoid valve. Just like a manual reset gas solenoid valve, the automatic gas solenoid valve is a safety unit which shuts down through lack of voltage.

However, once the voltage comes back, the gas solenoid valve unlocks and opens. The gas solenoid valve closing is not self-contained. It is available in two versions: lockable or not. This safety unit is very important as it enables the gas supply shut down at a precise point. Without a sectional valve, it is sometimes required to shut down the gas supply at the reducing station for any repair which considerably increases the technical intervention cost: need to purge a large section.

Gas pressure switches are also safety units at low or high pressure. The valve switches ON when electrical supply to the solenoid is available followed by manual operation. In absence of power to the solenoid, the valve can be operated manually. Valve is switched OFF when power to the solenoid is removed. Some of the examples where Manual reset ON valve should be used, are starting of Fuel gas flow, switching on solenoid valve for starting main process, etc.

In certain application, the valves are energized on automatically, however they are required to remain energized till manually turned off.

They are also referred to as Trip shut off type Manual Reset Valves. Solenoid Valves used in Fire Fighting systems are typical example of application of this type. Where in the valve cannot be operated till either by pressing manual reset button or by providing electrical supply.

The valve changes position only when the electrical supply is provided and button pressed momentarily.
